Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL, 西南政法大学) is a national key university in Chongqing, co-constructed by the Ministry of Education and Chongqing Municipality. Founded in 1950 as Southwest People's Revolutionary University under Marshall Liu Bocheng and inaugurated as Southwest College of Law in 1953 under General Zhou Baozhong, SWUPL was designated in 1978 as one of China's earliest national key universities, proudly honored as the "Whampoa Military Academy of China's Legal Field" (法学界的黄埔军校).
Spanning 3,000 mu across Baosheng Lake, Shapingba, and Yubei campuses in Chongqing, SWUPL is the premier legal talent cradle of China, having graduated an unprecedented number of Supreme People's Court judges, procurators-general, and prominent legal scholars.
