Founded in 1950 as Shenyang Light Industry Advanced Vocational School and relocated to Qingdao in 1956 as Qingdao Rubber Industry School, QUST is universally acclaimed across the industrial sector as the "Whampoa Military Academy of China's Rubber Industry" (中国橡胶工业的黄埔).
