Shanghai University (SHU, 上海大学) is a national "Project 211" and "Double First-Class" comprehensive research university co-constructed by the Ministry of Education and Shanghai Municipality. Inheriting the revolutionary soul of historic Shanghai University founded in 1922 (under Rector Yu Youren and Dean Qu Qiubai), it was re-established in 1994 under world-renowned scientist and educator Qian Weichang (钱伟长), becoming one of China's most rapidly rising modern universities.
